Christmas Letter minus the blog information

Merry Christmas Everyone~
I hope this letter reaches you and your loved ones in great health and happiness. If you have been met with challenges, I hope that God has given you great strength to meet them head on. For us at the Johnson household, 2008 has been a mixed year. We’ve had many challenges, but we have also had blessings. As a family these blessings and challenges have affected us, as a result brought us closer then I ever expected.

In April, after quite smugly telling someone that I was 30yrs old and have never broken a bone. You guessed it, I tripped over our toddler gate and broke my left wrist in 3 places on the same bone. Just narrowly missing surgery on it as a result. So it was a very interesting 8 weeks getting help on everything from doing my hair to helping me open things, since it was my main hand that was broken. In June, I‘m sad to say that I received word that my uncle Bill passed away quite suddenly in March. He will be dearly missed. Then on September 10th, the children and I were involved in a very serious car crash. Both vehicles involved were totaled.
Although these were the biggest challenges we experienced, God has been good in giving us blessings too. In June, I had a much over due conversation with my father, and we are talking again. In July, we took our 1st family vacation since Cyril was born, we had a lovely time up in Duluth. As a result of this trip, Cyril loves Thomas the Train. November was a very busy month for our family. My cousin Lynn delivered her twins( a boy and girl) 6 weeks early. My uncle Tom got married again to a wonderful lady that Jessie and I had the chance to meet several years ago.

Spencer got into a pediatric TBI program down in the cities that I’ve been trying to get him into. It’s been wonderful so far having doctors that understand the challenges Spencer and us as a family are going through. He’s not done with their round of testing, but we hope to have it all done and a plan by the end of next month. Spencer started occupation therapy this year with a wonderful lady, who has helped him greatly. His teachers have been impressed at how mature he has become. He continues to be in Cub Scouts, but we are looking for more interests that he might have to interact with more kids his age, and get the “wiggles” out.

Dawn has grown so much in the last year. I know that I have said that before but it amazes me how I’m starting to see less and less of a little girl and more of a young lady. This year is Dawn’s last year in elementary school. She’s very excited about being the “top dog” in the school, but at times nervous when there’s talk of the middle school. That will be an interesting adventure next year. This year may be the last year of girl scouts for Dawn and her troop. They have been working very hard to fundraise and earn money for their big Wisconsin Dells trip this summer. The girls are very excited, they will take the Amtrak train there and back.

God Bless~
